30,000 displaced by Burmese army
More than 30,000 people have been displaced by fighting in eastern Burma this year despite the army handing power to a nominally civilian government, activist groups have said.
Traumatised by troop-led atrocities including rape and mutilation, many face "a dire humanitarian crisis" after fleeing into forests, according to a Shan human rights group.
