3 held over fake money

THREE people have been arrested and charged in connection with alleged counterfeit offences after fake notes were passed at an electrical store.

More than 1600 of Clydesdale Bank 20 notes were seized by police officers on Friday after staff at a Comet store in Loanhead, Midlothian reported a man for paying with counterfeit money.

A police spokesman said officers believe around 300 of the counterfeit notes may still be in circulation, and urged all businesses to be vigilant of anyone else trying to pay for good or services with fake money.

Two men, aged 25 and 31, and a 27-year-old woman are all set to appear at court at a later date in relation to the charges.
