22 hurt in bus crash near Glasgow Airport

TWENTY-two people have been taken to hospital after a bus crashed into a fence near an airport.

The accident happened on the A726 Barnsford Road close to Glasgow Airport at around 7.30am.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said no-one was seriously injured, but everyone involved was taken to hospital to be checked over.

The spokesman said: "We took 12 people to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and 10 others were taken to the Southern General.

"There were multiple resources on the scene but no-one was seriously hurt - all of the casualties were walking wounded. It was mostly bumps and scrapes, but they are being checked over.

"Six ambulances travelled to the two hospitals, taking multiple casualties in each."

A police spokeswoman said: "Strathclyde Police were called at 7.30am to a report of a bus which appeared to lose control and crash through the barrier fence at the airport on Barnsford Road, near to the fire training ground.

"A full investigation will be carried out by road policing officers into the cause of the crash."
