20-year-old man to appear in court over burned body death

A MAN will appear in court next week in connection with the death of a teenager whose burned body was found in a field.

The remains of Zoe Nelson, 17, were discovered near Branchalfield Drive in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire last weekend.

A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged by Strathclyde Police yesterday.

He is expected to appear before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Motherwell College student Zoe was last seen leaving her Newmains home around a mile away at 5pm last Saturday.

Residents reported seeing a fire in woods known as Monkey Hill later that evening.

Detectives released CCTV images of the last-known movements of the teenager earlier this week. The pictures were taken by security cameras in a store at about 5:30pm on Saturday, the evening she disappeared.

A police spokeswoman said: "A 20-year-old man has been charged and detained in custody."
