$1m advent calendar is no cheap date

The $1 million (618,000) calendar has been created by Porsche Design and is one of five available worldwide.

Harrods is displaying one in its flagship Knightsbridge store, although the designers have had to show an image of some of the larger items on illuminated plates.

Three highlights include a Porche Design Indicator Chronograph watch in rose gold, a designer kitchen and an 8.5-metre speedboat.

A pair of gold sunglasses, cufflinks and running shoes will also be revealed.

Harrods managing director, Michael Ward, said: "Harrods has long been associated with unveiling innovative products and we are delighted to be welcoming this unique calendar."
