168 jobs lost as firm goes bust

A SCOTS masonry contractor stopped trading yesterday, with the loss of jobs for 168 workers.

The contractor, Hunter & Clark, which is based in Glasgow, was put into administration and staff were told they were being made redundant with immediate effect.

Elizabeth Mackay, of administrators Zolfo Cooper, said: "Unfortunately, the business has experienced severe cash-flow difficulties within a tough trading environment, which has led to today's decision.

"There remain a number of contracts for work outstanding, and we will now enter a period of assessment with a view to offering these contracts to potential bidders."
