11 more held in drugs blitz

POLICE have arrested a further 11 people in connection with their ongoing operation against drug dealers selling crack cocaine in the Capital.

Five addresses in the Leith area were searched yesterday morning, and a quantity of heroin and crack cocaine was seized during the raids.

It was expected that a number of those taken into custody would appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today. A total of 41 people have now been arrested as part of Operation Advance.

Several thousand pounds and drugs including crack cocaine, heroin and herbal cannabis have been recovered during the past week as officers target suspected Yardie gangsters.

A police spokesman said: "These arrests will let the dealers know that they are not welcome in Edinburgh."
