11 killed in Chinese ethnic violence

Police shot dead four people yesterday in China's far north-west, bringing to 11 the death toll in weekend violence in the troubled ethnic region.

The suspects died after several pedestrians and officers were injured yesterday in Kashgar. It followed a day of clashes in the city in which seven people died.
