Culdees Castle Estate Glamping, Perthshire

Midway between Crieff and Auchterarder in Perthshire is the 660-acre historic estate of Culdees Castle; home to the world famous Gleneagles Estate with distant views of the Highlands. It’s here that over the last two years three luxury woodland cabins have been built in a secluded woodland setting, with a further two planned in the future, whilst the castle itself is undergoing an extensive renovation project.

Tucked away among the trees, each wood-tiled cabin has a whole acre of woodland to itself together with a hot tub, BBQ and firepit outside, whilst inside offers guests a cosy cocoon, with a king size bed and all the mod cons such as private bathroom and kitchenette. There’s walking, cycling, horseriding, fishing and golf, all within easy reach of this adults-only retreat, and of course whisky tasting aplenty or even glass bowing to try at the nearby Caithness Glass Centre.

Each cabin is totally self contained with a king size comfy bed, its own bathroom with toilet, shower and wash basin and WiFi. The estate is working hard to cut down energy consumption and sustainability with water taken from a nearby spring. There’s a fully fitted out kitchen with fridge, kettle, toaster and a hob. The outside is decked with seating, your own fire pit for campfires, BBQ and a wood fired hot tub if you pay a little extra (£25).

Wining and Dining

Owners Tracey and Robbie provide a selection of hampers of local produce for guests to enjoy and a small shop offering an array of items and a tea shop. BBQ packs and breakfast hampers can all be pre-booked. The Castle is well located for a wide choice of local restaurants and bars with favourites being The Barley Bree at Muthill just a mile away, The Lounge at Crieff and The American Bar at Gleneagles itself. Don’t miss the delicious haggis meatballs at Max & Ben’s Bistro.
