TripAdvisor name Luskentyre in list of world's best beaches

Luskentyre beach, on the Isle of Harris, was named one of the best beaches in world alongside sites in Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Spain by travel website Tripadvisor.

A remote beach off the north-west coast of Scotland has been named as one of the 25 best in the world.

Luskentyre beach on the Isle of Harris, in the Western Isles, was ranked 13th best by the travel review website, TripAdvisor.

The largest and most spectacular of all the Harris beaches, Luskentyre came out ahead of the only other UK location of Woolacombe beach in Devon.

According to the poll, which was based on travellers' TripAdvisor reviews and ratings, the top three beaches in the world are Baia do Sancho (Brazil), Grace Bay Beach (Turk and Caicos) and Playa Paraiso (Cuba).
