New owners of historic Troon hotel vow 'senstitive' restoration

The new American owners of one of Scotland’s most iconic golf hotels, The Marine in Troon, have vowed they will restore the historic building sensitively.

Chicago-based Adventurous Journeys (AJ) Capital Partners have purchased the landmark Ayrshire venue for an undisclosed amount amnd have pledged the 89-room hotel will open in summer 2021 with ‘revitalised guest rooms, two unique food and beverage concepts, expansive meeting and event space and an updated fitness and leisure centre.’

The interior design will, according to the new owners, ‘take inspiration from Scotland's rich golf history and coastal positioning’.

The firm already has two hotels in popular golf centres, Rusacks St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland and the Marine North Berwick

"Our background is rooted in restoring iconic community landmarks and creating distinctive spaces for both locals and travellers alike. We are excited to provide memorable destinations that will leave visitors with memories to be cherished for years to come.”

Former owners Cannock Group and Stellar Asset Management started renovations to the hotel in spring 2020 and these updates will be continued by AJ Capital beginning in late 2020. Once completed in summer 2021, the reimagined hotel will debut with revitalized guest rooms, two unique food and beverage concepts, expansive meeting and event space and an updated fitness and leisure centre with an indoor pool, squash court and sauna and steam facilities.

The Marine Hotel boasts unobstructed views of the 1st and 18th fairways of Royal Troon's Old Course, which has played host to nine Open Championships.

Details of the deal have not been revealed. The premises has changed hands several times in recent years. In 2014 it was valued at £7m.
