This particular role is voluntary, residential and lasts for 22-weeks, offering the chance to work with Handa Rangers in a small, close-knit team of volunteers on Handa Island Wildlife Reserve.

You will take lead on a specialist area of reservation work and will also be expected to participate in all other aspects of island life on a rota basis throughout your 22-week placement.

Handa is an incredible island with nearly 100,000 breeding seabirds, stunning white sandy beaches and 120 metre high cliffs around the island offering spectacular views.

It is located on the North West coast of Scotland, not far from the village of Scourie on the mainland.

It is popular for day trips but The Scottish Wildlife Trust says that to stay on Handa as a volunteer is ‘an unforgettable and magical experience.’

They normally offer weekly volunteering experience but due to coronavirus these have had to be cancelled for the 2021 season.

The successful applicant for the Assistant Ranger role will gain invaluable experience and be offered networking opportunities within the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the RSPB and with several seabird researchers and academics.
