Luxury eco pods could be coming to Fife farm with breathtaking panoramic views of River Tay

A Fife farm is bidding to add luxury eco pods to its land to offer a different style of accommodation to visitors.

The application from Logie Farm at Glenduckie in Newburgh has been submitted to Fife Council.

Owners, Andrew and Joanna Morris, want to site six pods on land on the Barony hill behind a steading which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the River Tay.

They plan to employ local people, and link up with tourist attractions to tap into the staycation market.

Documents submitted in support of the application show that each pod sleeps two people with no shared facilities. Each would be well spaced to offer privacy and ensure social distancing.

The couple say they want to offer visitors a ‘get away from it all’ experience within Fife as more people look to holiday locally as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pods would also tap into the north-east Fife tourist market, offering accommodation to visitors to the nearby Lindores Distillery.

The applicants said Newburgh has no hotels or accommodation, but is rich in history, and the development would “benefit the local community by creating job opportunities and bringing more foot fall, into the local area.

Their application noted: “At a time when the Fife economy is suffering immense damage resulting from the coronavirus crisis, it is this type of development that will help to sustain it in the future.”

Councillors will consider the application in due course.
