Should you buy the new iPhone 6s?

LONG, obligatory queues are forming outside of Apple stories across the world as another new iPhone is unveiled. Is it worth the hype?

The ‘s’ models are released in the “off year” between new phones and generally offer new performance upgrades. This year Apple say the ‘s’ stands for speed. It has stood for security and Siri – Apple’s voice activated control – in the past

Well, some tech specialists think this upgrade is much more significant than usual as Apple fights to retain the smarthphone crown. Others are less enthusiastic.

The star of this year’s show is the arrival of 3D Touch, which was five years in the making, apparently.

The screen can now sense different level of pressure, triggering different actions as a result. Choose from long light taps, long firm taps and firm swipes. There are also peeks and pops which allows users to open new content without having to go to your home screen to access - a traditional bugbear of the iPhone loyal. If you want to preview a photo or change a weapon while gaming, this could be useful.

WHAT ABOUT THE CAMERA?

Their back cameras have been upgraded to offer 12 megapixels rather than eight. For those who loved more than a selfie, the iPhone 6 rose to the occasion, but the new model goes further with improved auto-focus, local tone-mapping, noise reduction and colour separation. It’s a great camera. The handsets can also shoot 4K videos - which means four times the amount of pixels than before.

It also comes in pink.

SHOUD I BUY ONE?

If you really need a new phone, then the iPhone 6s is a smart handset. And you will have mastered 3D touch before the iPhone 7 hits stores next year.
