Scotland's National Airshow Cancelled owing to pandemic
Organisers of the annual aviation spectacle at East Fortune, which attracted more that 8,000 spectators last year, decided to pull the plug in light of the advice and measures currently being implemented by the UK and Scottish Governments in response to the outbreak of Covid-19.
The news comes as museums across Scotland have reopened including each of the National Museums Scotland museums. The National Museum of Flight is now operating its winter opening hours, weekends only.

Hide AdIn a Twitter post, National Museums Scotland stated: “We’re sorry to announce that Scotland’s National Airshow, due to take place in July 2021 at the National Museum of Flight in East Lothian, has been cancelled.
“To deliver next year's Airshow, planning and booking of display aircraft would have to start now and it’s too soon to know whether the current restrictions in response to the outbreak of Covid-19 will be fully lifted by next summer.”
Last year’s show included a 19425 North American T6 Texan aircraft and Wildcat HMA 2 maritime attack helicopter.
Visitors were also able to hear stories from pilots of some of the iconic planes and were given the chance to explore the collections at the museum.
Provost John McMillan, the local authority’s spokesman for tourism and economic development, described the announcement as “very sad”
However, he added: “It is the wise and the right decision for the health of everybody and when you think about the fact they will need to book planes and exhibitors well in advance.”
