New short film shows stunning Scottish scenery from up high

A Scottish filmmaker has released footage showing Scotland from a bird’s eye view.

The stunning new video by Liam Anderstrem, Scotland: A Bird’s-Eye View, took eight months to shoot and features footage from all over the country.

Landscapes from Argyll, Perthshire and the Cairngorms as well as footage of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen can be seen in the video.

Anderstream said: “I love filming Scotland, it gives me an excuse to tour our country’s stunning landscapes and cityscapes.

“The new perspective we get using drone cameras has opened up a whole new world. Scotland is gorgeous from the ground, but once you get up in the air you can see just how dramatic our scenery is.”

The film was made using a combination of aerial drone cameras, similar to those that are expected to be popular this Christmas, as well as cutting edge stabilisation systems that allow smooth filming using traditional cameras.

“We set up a new company dedicated to aerial filming earlier this year and demand has been phenomen,” said Anderstrem.

“Airborne Lens is licensed with the Civil Aviation Authority and has worked for the likes of VisitScotland, Sport Aberdeen, Scottish Power and a host of other clients wanting fresh, creative footage and photography using drones.”

Anderstrem was born in St Andrews and moved to Edinburgh when he was a teenager. He studied photography at Stevenson College and went on to travel the world for over 15 years before returning home to Scotland last year. He now lives in Dollar with his wife and their 11-year-old son.
