10 of Glasgow's lesser-known parks and green spaces for a peaceful lockdown escape
Kelvingrove, Queen’s Park, Glasgow Green and the Botanic Gardens may attract the crowds, but there are a huge number of other options for a walk, run, or just to relax with a book on a bench (when milder weather returns).
Glasgow’s outdoor spaces have been massively popular over lockdown, particularly with those who have no access to a garden.
Here are a few of our favourites to visit which are usually fairly quiet, helping you get away from it all in places where keeping socially distant isn’t a problem.
5. Thornwood Park
In the west of the city, Thornwood Park offers a playpark and picnic tables for socially-distanced meet-ups.

6. Auchinlea Park
One of the prettiest ponds in Glasgow can be found in Auchinlea Park, just over the road from the Fort Shopping Centre.

7. Alexandra Park
Trendy Dennistoun's Alexandra Park boasts two ponds, an area of woodland and the 40-foot Walter MacFarlane Saracen Fountain.
