You could buy a world heritage site bungalow for just £1 - but there's a catch

A detached, two-bedroom bungalow located within a UNESCO world heritage site in Shropshire is going to auction with a guide price of just £1-plus - because it is in ruins.

The derelict remains of The Wynde - which is only accessible by footpath - is going under the hammer at Taylor James Auctions' next auction, on February 25.

The site sits at the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge world heritage site, close to Blists Hill Victorian Town - the gorge was one of the first in the UK to be given world heritage status, being designated by UNESCO in 1986.

Describing the lot, off Coalport Road, Madeley,  Taylor James says: "This is a development site of about 0.127 acres, formerly occupied by a two-bedroom detached bungalow.

"The site offers further potential, subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents."

However, it is not the first time the site has come under the hammer - it sold for £40,000 with Harman Healy Auctions in January 2019, and then for £30,000 with Bond Wolfe Auctions in December 2019.
