5. Cumnock, East Ayrshire
Zoopla put Cumnock on its list, as the fifth most affordable place in the UK this year. According to its data, the median gross income in the area - £29,500 - was 40 per cent of the average house price at just £73,000, making living here very affordable for most. Photo: Shuterstock
