Stylish penthouse apartments with panoramic views have come on the market at the landmark development of a derelict 19th-century factory in Fife.

Luxury penthouse apartments have gone on sale in a new development at a former textile factory in Fife

The new homes are part of a major building and refurbishment project at the former Pilmuir Works factory in Dunfermline.

The flats are situated on the fourth and fifth floor of the Depot, the new-build component of the Linen Quarter complex, in what has been dubbed ‘the Tower’.

Developers say the luxurious new properties are “unlike anything previously brought to market in Dunfermline”.

The A-listed building was originally a linen damask factory and warehouse complex back in the 1800s, then later was used to manufacture tyre fabric for Dunlop before being taken over by textile firm Duracord.

It had fallen into disrepair since the factory closed in 2005 and had become a target for vandals.

Now, after a major facelift and conversion by Edinburgh-based heritage developer Byzantian, it has been reborn as the Linen Quarter and will host 157 apartments and commercial space for takeaway and licensed premises.

As well as the new-build Depot, apartments are available in the Damask section of the Linen Quarter - conversions based in the original factory building.

All apartments are fitted out with Bosch appliances, Roca sanitaryware, Porcelanosa wall tiling and gigabit-capable Virgin fibre broadband.

The homes are warmed by renewable energy, courtesy of the Dunfermline district heating system.

The largest penthouse in the Tower, Plot 42, has 1,000 square feet of living space and boasts a large roof terrace. It is on the market at £235,000.

Further homes included in the eight-property third phase of the development include four apartments on sale for n £200,000, meaning they qualify for the Scottish Government’s Help to Buy scheme while also benefiting from the temporary holiday on land and building tax.
