The property features its own sauna and balcony, four bedrooms and interior décor that was all the rage when Starsky and Hutch dominated television screens and disco fever ruled the airwaves.

At the time it was built, an average house in Scotland cost £11,500.

On the outside, the detached Scandinavian-style building looks like a traditional bungalow but inside it is like stepping back in time.

The home boasts lime green and white kitchen cabinets, vibrantly patterned tiles and carpets and a wood-panelled ceiling in the living room.

Both bathrooms are decorated with green and yellow patterned tiles and feature a green toilet and bath.

Estate agents Rettie said the home was constructed to the then-owner’s specifications and sits on its own plot of land in the Glasgow suburb of Bearsden.

And since listing the home they have been swamped by calls from interested buyers, with around 105 property views scheduled during just one week.

The brochure says: “It is fair to say that the property’s specification dates from when the house was constructed.

“Therefore it is fair to report that the subjects would benefit from a programme of modernising and upgrading to bring the subjects to current standards.

“This will be quite an exciting opportunity as the house commands a rather pleasant, wooded outlook to the rear, across its large back garden which is very well established and planted with a great many specimen trees and shrubs, although this too will require some work.”

Housing experts say they admire the property’s retro charm and have given a more favourable view of the property, with one saying the “uber cool” fixtures deserved to be restored and preserved for posterity.
