Now after a decade’s worth of development, the cult product is to rewrite how we can hear music all over again.

More than 6,000 components make up the new Orpheus headphones, with a range of exquisite materials ensuring that not one tiny frequency is denied to the listener.

Gold-vaporized ceramic electrodes and platinum-vaporized diaphragms ensure optimum connectivity and sound delivery, according to Verge.com.

But perhaps the most beguiling feature of all is the Carrara marble amplifier housing from Italy - said to be the same material that Michaelangelo used for his creations.

Critics have also been left deeply impressed by digital amplification, which takes place right inside the headphones. Those long headphone chords, where sounds can fall away and deteriorate, are no more.

The headphones can also boost up low-quality sounds through eight digital to analogue converters, so even the meekest digital file can get a quality makeover.

But at a price like this you would want some serious audio kit to them justice. The question is, does your music collection deserve the Oprheus HE90 treatment?
