Govanhill Carnival and Parade

Govanhill residents came out in force last Saturday to celebrate its diverse community as the second Govanhill Carnival and Festival got underway.

The colourful parade danced through the streets to Queen’s Park where residents were treated to a wide variety of performances and activities.

The first ever Govanhill Carnival took place last year and this year, saw it grow into an 11-day extravaganza, showcasing the rich diversity of the area – where more than 40 nationalities speaking over 60 languages have made their home.
