TENNENT’S have introduced a timely new alcohol-free lager as new drink-drive legislation comes into force in Scotland.

Named Hee Haw, the alcohol-free beer will be available in pubs throughout Scotland.

A nod to the Scots term for ‘nothing’, Hee Haw is produced with an ABV below 0.05 per cent.

Despite the timing of the release, Tennent’s has been developing an alcohol-free beer for quite some time in response to a gap in the market - a lack of high-quality alcohol-free lager.

Marketing Director Paul Condron said: “Over the last few years, we’ve increasingly been asked by Tennent’s drinkers to create a lager that’s non-alcoholic,

“From shift workers, to designated drivers, the demand for something like Tennent’s Hee Haw has been there for some time – and we only expect that demand to increase substantially now the legislative reform is in full effect.

“We’ve spent a lot of time to get Hee Haw just right, meaning that although we’ve taken the alcohol out, we’ve kept the flavour in.

“We look forward to seeing what drinkers think of it.”

Hee Haw will be sold in Scotland’s pubs from Friday morning, with shoppers in Glasgow and Edinburgh being offered samples to encourage them to take home Hee Haw for Christmas.
