Shetland fish and chip shop ‘best in Scotland’

A FISH and chip shop in Shetland has been crowned the best in Scotland at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Frankie’s Fish & Chips in Brae will now compete to be land the UK crown of Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year as part of the 2015 National Fish & Chip Awards.

It is one of ten shops shortlisted across Britain who are bidding for the ultimate title.

Each shop faces a rigorous judging process with ­assessments on a variety of criteria including product quality, ­sustainable sourcing policies, marketing initiatives and service. The finalists will now attend a study trip to Norway, organised by award sponsor the Norwegian Seafood Council to see first-hand why the country is regarded as one of the world’s most sustainable fishing nations.

The awards recognise the best talent, quality and choice ­offered by fish and chip businesses across the UK.
