While restrictions don’t allow us to enter a premises, cafes are serving coffee and cake from takeaway portals.
Some cafes have made do with a table, others open a window, and there are also more professional options. Edinburgh-based design company, Splintr, has even created a Safe Server, which can feature a company’s branding. However they’re managing it, Scotland’s cafes are ensuring we get our daily perk.

5. Salt Cafe, Edinburgh
"The customers have been very supportive of our new takeout offering, with lots of regulars helping us to keep afloat during this challenging time. It’s bitterly cold having the doors open all day but we remain positive for the future and feel proud to be part of Edinburgh’s thriving hospitality scene" says Liv Connolly-Bostock, owner of Salt Café Photo: Contributed
“It’s has been a pleasure serving people during this pandemic, I think most are just glad that somewhere is still open and that we’re still able to fill their needs for good grub. Some people do still rock up not wearing a mask and then complain about it and it can be annoying, but for the most part they seem to respect the glass and the staff members. At least we are bringing them some sense of normality during these times," says Naomia Jamsa of Bross Bagels Photo: Contributed
