Since getting their hands on the site in January, the experienced team behind the new venture have already gotten to work on refurbishing the cafe to create a large restaurant, The Palmerston, which will also house a bakery serving fresh baked goods and breads to eat in or take-away.
Co-owned by James Snowdon and Lloyd Morse, plans for the new site are well underway – with the team posting regular updates of their extensive work on the stylish site on their Instagram account.
Chef Lloyd Morse has become well-known within Edinburgh’s food and drink scene after relocating from London a few years ago, where he had worked at notable London restaurants such as Primeur, Magdalen and Spring. Having also been previously stationed at Vinoteca’s Marylebone branch as Head Chef, Morse has brought his culinary expertise to popular restaurants in Edinburgh like Timberyard and Good Brothers in Stockbridge.
Fellow co-owner and Scot James Snowdon will be bringing his years of management experience to the table, having worked in varied sites in both Edinburgh and London over the last 10 years.
With the duo now combining their hefty experience in front of and behind the counter, plans for The Palmerston look to contribute a unique new offering to the Edinburgh restaurant scene.
According to Edinburgh retail and leisure property agency Culverwell, who undertook the sale of the lease for 1 Palmerston Place on behalf of previous residents Cafe Noir, the restaurant will provide up to 60 covers and look to rustle up a range of seasonal, well-sourced dishes to serve in a laidback, relaxed atmosphere.
