In pictures: A first look at the new £140m Macallan Distillery

Set to open in June, we recently took a trip to the innovative and exciting new Macallan distillery in Speyside.

Costing parent company Edrington £150 million and capable of producing 15 million litres of The Macallan spirit a year, the new site took 400 people specialising in more than 20 different trades, including coppersmiths, master joiners and craftspeople, three and a half years to complete and is described as a “cathedral of whisky”.
