Over the last 20 years, Fishers restaurants have become a firm favourite among locals and tourists for their fresh seafood dishes - earning them a Traveler’s Choice award from TripAdvisor earlier this year.

Their well-known bar and restaurant, The Shore, also ranked on TripAdvisor as one of Edinburgh’s best bars, is among the three sites set to close for the duration of Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions.

On Sunday, the team took to Facebook to announce the planned closures of bistros in Leith and New Town due to the impact of the circuit breaker and new Tier 3 restrictions on Edinburgh businesses. The post said:

“It is with a heavy heart to tell all our loyal customers that we will be closing our doors Monday November 9 until further notice. Regrettably our hand has been forced by the current COVID-19 restrictions & its subsequent impact on the operations & overall experience we strive to deliver.”

Despite making the tough decision to close for the foreseeable, Fishers added that they plan on reopening when restrictions are partially lifted for the capital.

“We are hopeful of being reduced to tier 2 soon, and want to let all of you know, once that happens our doors will be open again to welcome you all in to our wonderful establishment.”

On their website, the team apologised for the last minute impact on bookings - which will either be cancelled or rearranged – and sought to reassure customers that they would be reopening once restrictions are relaxed and “we are able to offer a service and environment that we feel is up to par.”
