Coronavirus in Scotland: The Three Chimneys set to close doors for winter from next week

Isle of Skye’s five star hotel The Three Chimneys is set to close next week for the foreseeable future due to the impact of Covid-19 restrictions.

Gordon Campbell Gray, who owns the world-renowned restaurant with rooms, at Colbost, made the announcement on the hotel’s website on Wednesday which is due to close in a week's time.

His statement read: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce that we are again having to close our doors. The current travel restrictions and rulings have simply made it impossible to carry on through the next two months and we will be closing after breakfast on Wednesday 25th November.

“We completely understand that getting on top of the spread of the virus is of prime concern and we fully accept that closing at this time is the correct thing to do.

"It is our intention and hope that we will re-open towards the end of January and we will be keeping a watchful eye on progress and will update you on the precise date when it can be certain.

"As always the entire team at The Three Chimneys want to again thank our wonderful guests who have supported us through these turbulent times. We are extremely appreciative and are all so looking forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back in 2021.”

He added: “Can I suggest that it might be a wonderful present for someone this Christmas to send them a gift voucher for either lunch or dinner or if you want to really spoil them a stay at The Three Chimneys - just a thought !”

The award-winning Scots hotel is among many other five-star venues to close due to the impact of the coronavirus on the hospitality industry.

The Old Course Hotel, situated next to the famous golf course it’s named after in St Andrews, closed on Monday, 16 November due to the latest Covid restrictions in Scotland.

All of the luxury venue’s bars, restaurants and spa facilities have shut, as well as the hotel itself.

Its golf course however, the Duke’s Course, will remain open.

Five star resort Gleneagles is also one of many other hotels in Scotland to close its doors until the end of January due to increased lockdown restrictions in the area.
