Bellfield Brewery to release new Rational Creatures IPA for International Women's Day 2021
Edinburgh independent brewery Bellfield Brewery have launched a special beer for International Women’s Day 2021 for the second year in a row, with the Rational Creatures IPA offering a light, hoppy blend for spring.
A female brewing team sought to create an IPA in honour of the worldwide celebration of women next month, with their Rational Creatures IPA offering a hoppy IPA format with a low 4.3% ABV and juicy, tropical fruit overtones.

Hide AdGiselle Dye, co-founder and director of Bellfield Brewery, said the Bellfield team were keen to press on with positive plans for an International Women’s Day beer despite the challenges of lockdown.
“Everything has just been really tough but we’re trying to stay positive and that’s why for the second year running we have brewed an International Women’s Day beer. This is also because half of our team are women and our research and development brewer is also female.”
Bellfield’s research and development brewer Sally MacGarry led the team through tastings and workshops on Zoom, having sent packets of hops around the team to let everyone join in on the creation process of Rational Creatures IPA in lockdown.
"Even though it was just Sally brewing with one other person, rather than six of us, we felt we were there in spirit,” Ms Dye added.

Hide AdSally MacGarry said that she was passionate about the cause of creating a beer for International Women’s Day: “I think it's a really fantastic thing to do and obviously as a female brewer in the industry, my cause is getting women together and making and drinking beer!”
“It’s definitely on the brighter side and just giving customers a little taste of summer coming, so we can all get excited about it and know it’s going to be great.”
The Rational Creatures IPA will be available to purchase at Bellfield Brewery’s online store from March 8 here.
