Under the Radar: Carla J Easton

Best known as the frontwoman in TeenCanteen and Ette, Carla J Easton's new solo album, Impossible Stuff, was released on Friday via Glasgow-based Olive Grove Records '“ and it's brilliant.

Musically varied, packed full of symphonic strings, brass and synth arrangements, the LP is awash with her signature melody-driven, dreamy pop. Recorded in Montreal and produced by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire), it’s already been featured by Record of the Day and BBC Radio Scotland (not to mention well-reviewed in our sister paper, The Scotsman) and we expect it to pick up plenty more exposure.

Following yesterday’s sold-out album launch in Glasgow, Easton embarks on a short tour visiting Manchester on Thursday, London on Friday and Brighton on Saturday, followed by Leith Depot in Edinburgh on 20 October and an appearance at the Aberfeldy Festival on 3 November.
