Unusual Scottish festive gifts planned for this pandemic Christmas in Scotland

From toilet paper to dry pasta, rubber gloves and hand sanitiser, a new study has revealed a list of unusual Christmas gifts Scots are genuinely planning on giving their loved ones this festive period.

Toilet roll and rubber gloves were amongst the list of unusual gifts Scots are planning to give their friends and family for Christmas.

Over 15% of Scots (16%) are planning on filling their loved ones’ stocking with toilet paper, according to the study from VoucherCodes.co.uk

The news of this comes after the beginning of lockdown saw hoards of people across the country bulk-buying the toilet essential.

According to the Scots surveyed by savings site VoucherCodes.co.uk, 13% are set to buy Christmas presents they never normally would.

Toilet roll managed to attract 15% of the Scottish Christmas shoppers in their quest to find a suitable lockdown gift this Christmas.

The study comprised of 2,003 UK adults and was conducted between October 27 and November 2 this year.

Dried pasta seemed to attract Scotland’s festive shoppers with 9% of people saying they were going to buy the cupboard favourite as a gift for someone’s stocking this Christmas.

Bizarrely, rubber gloves got some attention with 6% of Scots adding them to their squeaky clean festive lists.

It may not surprise some that face masks got 22% and hand sanitiser got 16% of the Scottish gift-buying vote as we prepare to keep safe and clean this Christmas.

Overall, almost two fifths of Scots (36%) expect people will ask for more practical items this year.

Almost one in 10 (8%) Scots said they’d like a food box subscription for Christmas and 7% are hoping for a bread maker.
