Gadget review: Karcher K7 high-pressure washer, £519.99
Eco what? Eco Beast. As well as being immensely powerful, the K7 can draw water directly from a water butt and, at the flick of a switch, it’ll use 20 per cent less energy, with no noticeable drop-off in grimebusting performance.
You mentioned power... Yes, I did. I like power, and the K7 has it in spades. A 2,800-watt motor pumps 600 litres of water an hour at a maximum pressure of 160 bar. Imagine inflating your car’s tyres to 100 times their recommended pressure, then sticking a nail in them. That’s the kind of kick you get.

Hide AdIs it any good? Oh yes. I blasted a winter’s-worth of mud off the underside of my Land Rover in five minutes. Be warned, though – at maximum thrust, the K7 can strip the paintwork off your motor. The vario lance lets you dial down the pressure. The T400 patio cleaner head means you can scrub your slabs without blasting grot all over the garden.
I want a shot! Knock yourself out. The water-cooled motor makes a bit of a racket, so don’t expect to win favour from your neighbours if you get up early on Sunday to de-clutter your gutters.
