10 Shetland filming locations you can visit in Scotland

Shetland's rugged scenery provides the ideal backdrop for BBC's popular crime drama.
The fifth series of Shetland has landed and as ever the show's stunning setting is capturing the imagination of audiences.
Since Shetland launched in 2013 its eponymous setting has served as a character of sorts, providing a moody backdrop for dark and disturbing crimes.
The show is filmed across a number of Shetland beauty spots, as well as a select amount of locations across Scotland.
Much of the filminf for Shetland takes place in the Shetland Islands' capital, Lerwick. The town's distinctive lodberries, piers developed as warehouses, have featured throughout the BBC series.

According to the Shetland Times, filming for series five of the crime drama took place at tiny village West Quarff, which lies five miles south of Lerwick.
