The Parkhead forward struck a low shot from outside the penalty area to put the reigning champions on the path to victory. He then ran behind the goal to pick up a t-shirt which he held up for the photographers to see. It simply read: “RIP Liam.”

The Scottish international revealed earlier this week the sad loss of his cousin in an Instagram post. He wrote: “Can't believe it... Gone far too soon big cousin. RIP Liam Griffiths. YNWA [You’ll Never Walk Alone]”

After netting the opener, Griffiths then made the through ball which enabled Odsonne Edouard to double the advantage for Neil Lennon’s men shortly after the break. Though they missed chances to put the game beyond doubt, Hamilton never looked capable of coming back into the match.
