Nostalgia: Snapshot from this week in the past

THERE were high spirits as the cast of Me and My Girl mingled with almost 200 guests during an after-show reception at the Balmoral Hotel.

This page three picture in the Evening News on this day 20 years ago showed that while no-one was doing the Lambeth Walk, star of the show Gary Wilmot was enjoying a knees-up with kilted members of the cast.

Elsewhere, co-star Jessica Martin was seen mingling with famous partygoers, such as Scottish rugby brothers Scott and Gavin Hastings, while Stephen Fry had flown up from London especially for the performance.

Playhouse general manager Cormack Rennick told the News he was delighted with the buzz the show had generated, with healthy advance bookings reported.
