Nostalgia: Snapshot

STARING longingly at her idol, Heather McCandleff, of Calder Grove, got all shook up at the city’s 50th anniversary Elvis Convention on January 14, 1985.

One of many adoring fans at the event, held at the Grosvenor Hotel in the West End, she sported her mum’s old 1950s gear to get in the full spirit of the occasion.

Programmes at the convention were sold for a then jaw-dropping 50p, as hundreds of fans turned out to pay tribute to Presley and celebrate the musical legend’s legacy.

For a full eleven hours, from noon, they paid tribute to The King – making the Grosvenor no heartbreak hotel.
