£1m medical training centre opens doors

A NEW £1 million facility, aimed at training medical, nursing and dental students in a real life hospital setting, was officially opened in Dundee yesterday.

The Dow Clinical Simulation Suite, which features a six-bed ward, three examination rooms and a high dependency Unit, will operate as part of Dundee University’s School of Medicine at Ninewells Hospital.

The pioneering facility has been named in honour of Professor David Dow, former Master of Queen’s College, Dundee, and his wife Dr Agnes Dow, who were both long-standing benefactors of the university and whose memorial trust has provided £600,000 of the funding.
