MSP in the pink to promote breast cancer fundraiser

AN EDINBURGH MSP has thrown his weight behind the fight against breast
cancer – and even donned a bright pink wig to prove it.

Gordon Macdonald, who represents Edinburgh Pentlands, will be taking part in Wear it Pink Day, and has called on his constituents to join him.

As part of the event, due to take place on October 26, people will wear something pink and donate £2 to the Breast Cancer Campaign charity.

This year’s theme is superheroes, and the charity has encouraged people to wear pink socks or tights over their clothes, or a pink cape. Mr Macdonald said: “Every year in Scotland almost 4500 women and 25 men are diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 1000 will die from the disease.

“This is why we all need to support Wear it Pink Day on October 26, so that Breast Cancer Campaign can continue to fund research which will one day lead to a cure.”

And commenting on the wig on his Facebook page, Mr Macdonald joked: “At least it reminded me of when I had hair!”
