GP vacancy receives flood of applications after James Bond-style advert

A VACANCY for a new GP on the Isle of Arran has received a flood of applications after bosses posted a James Bond-style trailer advertising the job on the internet.

The trailer, which is set to a Bond theme tune, promises “job satisfaction on a spectacular island – helicopter provided”. It includes footage of the doctor’s red BMW with flashing green light racing to the aid of a patient and a daring helicopter rescue.

The one minute, 17-second clip has received nearly 8,000 hits on YouTube, leading to interest from all over the UK and beyond for the £80,000 per year post.

Dr David Hogg, of the Arran Medical Group, said: “We put it on the internet two weeks ago just expecting to give a bit of background information to the job. But we have had interest from various parts 
of the UK and beyond about the job.”
