Further increase in Scots prescription items

THE number of items handed out on prescription in Scotland increased by almost 3 per cent last year.

A total of 96.6 million items were handed out by pharmacists, up from 93.8 million in 2011.

The total number of items prescribed was already up 3.1 per cent compared to 2010.
