Donor drive for NHS staff

STAFF at NHS Lothian are to be encouraged to sign up as organ donors at a series of workshops next year.

Special “Amnesty Days” will encourage the 28,000 workers to join the organ donor register.

Professor John Forsythe, consultant transplant surgeon at the Royal Infirmary, said: “We have 28,000 staff in NHS Lothian and while most of them will know about organ donation and probably carry a donor card, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are on the donor register. We need that to change.”
