Why I won’t adopt Stay Alert slogan’: Nicola Sturgeon makes her case

Nicola Sturgeon explained that it was a point of law that the lockdown in each of the countries in the United Kingdom is under the control of the devolved governments, and so Scotland will be taking its own path out of lockdown.

When asked whether she felt the UK Government was making dangerous decisions, Nicola Sturgeon refused to criticise the actions made for England, though questioned the clarity of the PM’s message.

She said: “He's taken decisions that he thinks are right for England" though added that it wasn’t made clear enough that Sunday night’s message was not for Scotland.

Piers Morgan repeatedly asked about the clarity of the message and the dangerous repercussions of easing lockdown too soon to which the First Minister responded: “You don’t need to tell me how serious this is” and eventually saying “You’re having a go at me…” to which Morgan interrupted saying he wasn’t, he was just exasperated at the UK Government message.

Morgan claims that the UK Ministers are refusing to come on GMB as they are avoiding tough questions, saying to Sturgeon: “You’re all we’ve got!”

“I can’t speak for the UK Government,” Nicola Sturgeon said, later adding: “I have to do what’s right for Scotland”.
