Watch: entire street of residents seen 'social distant dancing' together during lockdown

The UK has been in lockdown for just over a week now, but one group of town-dwellers are refusing to let the new measures get in the way of having responsible fun.

Residents in a street in Frodsham, Cheshire, meet everyday to ‘social distant dance’ for about ten minutes since the stay-at-home rules took full force.

Footage shows those taking part, young and old, dancing at the end of their driveways or in the entrances to their homes having fun while making sure they are at a safe distance from each other.

Resident Elsa Williams, who posted the video on Twitter, said: “Socially distant dancing happens every day on our road at 11am during lockdown.

“Local fitness instructor Janet Woodcock leads the sessions.

“Distance dancing only lasts ten minutes a day so causes minimal disturbance.

“Mostly our road is kids and elderly residents who are self isolating, so they look forward to it.”

The video was taken on day seven and the group listened to ‘It’s not Unusual’ by Tom Jones for their daily dance.

Elsa said the activity was initially meant to be a one-off, but due to an overwhelming positive response, it has been happening every day since.

She added: “It’s worth noting our road hardly spoke to each other before this!”
