‘Stay at Home’ advert showing women doing chores pulled by UK Government

The UK Government has withdrawn a coronavirus advert urging because it “does not reflect the Government’s view on women.”

The advert, which urged people to “stay at home” and “save lives”, included depictions of several women performing chores.

In one of the illustrations, a woman stands by an ironing board while holding a baby.

In another, two women mop the floor, while in a third, a mother appears to be home-schooling her children.

The only man in the advert is shown sitting on the sofa with his partner.

According to the Daily Mirror, Downing Street confirmed that the ad "does not reflect the Government's view on women".

A spokesperson for the Prime Minister said: "It has been withdrawn and removed from the campaign.

"I will make clear that it does not reflect the Government’s view on women, which is why it has been withdrawn."
