Scottish Secretary Alister Jack in self-isolation after showing symptoms

MP now working from home in self-isolation

Scotland’s Secretary of State, Alister Jack, is in self-isolation after developing symptoms associated with the coronavirus.

The Dumfries and Galloway MP confirmed he has mild symptoms and is now working from home.

In a statement, Mr Jack said: “In the past 24 hours, I have developed mild symptoms associated with coronavirus.

“In line with medical guidance, I am self-isolating and working from home.”

The Secretary of State has a mild temperature and a cough, consistent with symptoms relating to the Covid-19 illness.

The 55-year-old Conservative politician has not yet been tested for the coronavirus.

The announcement comes after it was confirmed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for the virus.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has also tested positive, while Chief Medical Officer Chris Witty is self-isolating after showing symptoms.
