The Scottish government has confirmed that there have been no new deaths from the virus in the last 72 hours.

It means the total death toll of people who tested positive for Covid-19 still stands at 2,490.

Confirmed cases of the virus have now reached 18,340, an increase of seven on the day before.

The number of patients in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus stands at 323.

Six people with confirmed or suspected coronavirus are currently being treated in Scotland’s intensive care units.

Since March 5, 4,121 people treated in hospital for Covid-19 have recovered and been discharged.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon welcomed the news, telling followers on Twitter that progress was “still good”, but added that, “with significant easing of the lockdown next week, we must all take care.”
