The First Minister announced a raft of dates when certain businesses can reopen, and when the five mile restriction will be lifted.

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has outlined a list of key dates when certain elements of the lockdown could be lifted.

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has outlined a list of key dates when certain elements of the lockdown could be lifted.

Speaking at First Minister’s Questions this afternoon, Ms Sturgeon said there was a “clear” and “positive” trend in the latest coronavirus figures, which mean it is now safer to ease restrictions.

But she stressed that the dates were dependent on the progress made in suppressing the virus.

July 3

Ms Sturgeon said that the restriction on the distance that Scots can travel - currently set at five miles - will be lifted on July 3.

The First Minister urged people not to travel unnecessarily, and to avoid travelling to crowded places.

July 6

After postponing the reopening of beer gardens and outdoor spaces in restaurants last week, Ms Sturgeon announced that those businesses could be able to start up again.

July 9

As part of the updated route map for Scotland, the First Minister also announced that she hopes phase three will begin on July 9, after the regular review, but said that she does not expect all of the phase three easing to happen at one time.

July 10

Households could be able to meet more people outdoors from July 10, as well as seeing an expansion of the extended household model.

People will also be able to meet indoors with others from more than two households.

July 13

Organised sports, non essential shops in indoors shopping malls may be able to open on July 13 with physical distancing restrictions.

July 15

Museums, libraries, galleries, cinemas, shopping centres, and indoor pubs and restaurants are also set to reopen on July 15, along with much-missed hairdressers - all with physical distancing in place.
