Recycling centres will be reopening in Scotland on Monday.

The centres have been closed since March when the country went into lockdown, but are named in the phase one of lockdown easing as one of the businesses that is able to reopen, as long as physical distancing is observed.

Both Edinburgh and Aberdeen are among the councils who have announced that people should book ahead of time to minimise crowding and help the customers and staff stay 2m apart.

The closing of the centres is thought to have led to a rise in fly tipping during lockdown, with councils reminding people that fly tipping comes with a £200 fine.

As well as recycling centres, garden centres and construction sites have also been given the go ahead, and phase one of lockdown easing means that the Scottish public is allowed to meet people from other households outside, as long as they remain two metres apart.
